Friday Five!

{sparkly pumpkins make me happy}

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This week has been fun and went by really quickly. I think the pending holiday weekend has everyone in high spirits. I personally have been flying high on candy/cookies/brownies/donuts for days (lots of people brought in treats!). And that will continue today and into the weekend. The 2014 Fiscal Year has come to a close at GFS! Yesterday, the WHOLE corporate office met in connector (the massive open space that separates the East Side of the building from the West Side) to make a big announcement that has been hyped up all month. I’m sworn to secrecy until November 10th, but let’s just say Gordon Food Service is doin’ big things!

So today, we celebrate! The annual “Harvest Fest” is this afternoon! All the kiddos will come dressed in their finest and be just as hopped up on sugar as I am! It’ll be a good pregame for tonight’s Halloween party! I can’t wait to dress up and have some good old fashion Halloween fun complete with spooky foods, beer pong and judging others costumes! Tomorrow Jenny and I are kickin’ it back old school and having a Scream trilogy marathon! I haven’t watched those movies in years and am curious to see if they still affect me the same way they did when we were 11 (as in completely terrified with a flashlight under the covers!).

{decided I wanted to start the new fiscal year with a new planner}

Fall Tunes 2014

Some of these are on repeat from previous posts… but I don’t care… all of these songs just scream Fall. Some for specific reasons, (hello our FIRST DANCE song from October 4th 2013!!), some for obvious reasons (Sweater Weather anyone…) and others for no reason at all besides the fact that I discovered them this time of year.

MSU v. U of M Weekend 2014

MSU came away with a proud win this past Saturday. And I was right in the thick of the madness, right on campus. My favorite place to be! The day was everything we hoped it would be: good food, good people, good weather, and victorious. All of the above was achieved! There isn't really much more to say about the day… I loved it. It was a perfect Spartan day.

Victory for MSU

Friday Five!

{happiness is this right here}

Another Friday morning blog post from good old Texas! My boss and I flew in early Tuesday morning and spent the whole week in the Houston office. Lots of productive meetings were had and I feel good moving forward on future projects. Thanks for the hospitality Texas. Until next time…

This weekend is U of M vs. MSU football! I can’t wait to get home to my husband tonight, relaxing at home and preparing for the oh-so-anticipated East Lansing day tomorrow. The thought of returning to our campus is truly what kept me going and excited this entire week. It’s like my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

The Gymnasts Take Chicago!

I don’t think it’s any secret that I love Chicago. I love Chicago so much it hurts! I think Chicago is the city I've visited the most in my entire life (besides cities where I've lived) and I NEVER get sick of it! I never will. I know I've probably said this before, but the city inspires me. It makes me feel like the best, most alive, version of myself. Therefore, my visits there are the best times and I make sure I go all out when I’m there.

This past weekend, the retired ladies of Branch Gymnastics, took the city by storm. Doing the touristy thing (the bean!) and doing the local thing (BRUNCH)! Friday night we stayed in and had the obligatory puppy chow and catch up time, and maybe some drinking games... Saturday was spent shopping and exploring, working up an appetite for dinner before hitting the town dressed in our best. And we brunched. Oh did we brunch. That might be my favorite part of Chicago!

Oh and don’t worry, the next visit is already in the works!

{Canadian cookies! appropriate given my recent workload}

{Brunch! This bad boy has made it on multiple top brunching restaurants in Chicago!}

Monday Motivators!

I just can't help it...sometimes these guys are all it takes to get me through a week. Meggie, once you and Max get Butters 2, you'll understand. It's just part of being a Fur Mom.

[The facial expressions on this boy lately have been priceless]

[Very suspenseful viewing sesson of The Blacklist
Glad my girl was there to keep me calm.]

[Another classic]

+PLUS...Only 12 more days to train for the season's first half marathon! I've taken almost an entire week off from running to rest my legs for this final stretch of race preparation, and now that I have the course map, I think I'll try out different sections...though most of it is more than familiar.

[Now....Must. Find. More. Great. Music.]
