Friday Five!

{all my memories from my sister weekend in New Orleans}

Coming off a high from a weekend in New Orleans with my sister, I knew this week would drag! Which it did… being busy aside all I could really think about all week was how much I wanted to take an extended vacation to enjoy hot Michigan weather. Well… I could not do that but at least it’s another LONG weekend J

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Tonight we’re having a get together at our house for my 30th, then the rest of the weekend we are playing it by ear. Lansing brewery tour? Beach? Relaxing around the house with Rosie Lu!? Whatever. I’m so excited for summer!

30 Things about Turning 30

  1. Friday nights roll around and sitting on the couch sounds like more fun than going out
  2. The “oldies” station has started playing music from my childhood
  3. And AMC is playing your favorite movies)
  4. You can’t recover from party weekends like you used to
  5. Eye cream is a real (and necessary) thing
  6. Bedtime before dark is a common occurrence
  7. Casual hangs with your friends are no longer a thing… you have to “schedule” it
  8. Even more questions about when we’re going to kids… just ... stop.
  9. Even more pressure to work hard at that next promotion (cause you’re 30!)
  10. You get ridiculously excited about receiving SELF in the mail
  11. When 20-somethings find out your age they have that look in their eye…
  12. Sleeping in makes you feel guilty
  13. The muscle aches!!!
  14. You’re officially in the second third of your life
  15. You most likely have started filling your closet with more "investment pieces"
  16. You’re seen as an adult in the eyes of your older co-workers
  17. Most likely have a better understanding of who you are
  18. FOMO is starting to become less of a concern
  19. Going to bed at 8:00 pm is COMPLETELY allowed… and you **GASP** like it!
  20. 5 years away from being able to run for president (because declaring your candidacy is the cool thing to do these days?)
  21. You care more about what you put into your body.
  22. You no longer have to ”fake it until you make it”… you’ve most likely made it!
  23. And if you feel you have to fake it, you have established mentors there to help out
  24. The common “you made it!” response when people find out you’re 30 J
  25. You’re now “mature” so presentations should be a breeze (according to Courtney)
  26. You’d rather just hang with your cat… (or dogs) J
  27. You can wear a tutu to work on your birthday and really could care less if people stare…
  28. You really just care less in general about what people think of you... your decisions are your decisions... own them! :)
  29. You no longer take life for granted
  30. You’re officially in the second third of your life… let’s make it the best!!

Riverbank Run 2016

Yay for Riverbank Run! It was SOOOOO cold, but I was able to get mine, and Max's, butt out of bed and head downtown for the 7:00 am shot gun start. Some 20,000 participants hit the pavement for this race, the biggest road race in the nation. It's always so much fun to see the city come to life the way it does during this celebration.

Congrats to all of the racers out there! Maybe I'll take on the 10k again some year....  (BBG keeps me plenty busy for now :)).

{the best reward... BLT and Pomegranate Mimosa from our favorite breakfast spot}

Windmill Island

Last week Max and I visited Holland for this year's Tulip Festival. Unfortunately, the really warm weekend followed by freezing temps and lots of rain killed off many of the plants before we could make it to the festival. Windmill Island is the place to go during the festival so it was our main priority. We took a detour for a quick beer and then decided to walk to the "island". After aimlessly wandering for half hour we finally stumbled upon the large windmill and headed straight for it. Even though it wasn't sunny and beautiful it was a really fun time meandering through the still colorful flowers.

I love this festival. It's always the perfect way to feel like Summer is finally on it's way (even if the weather is not always cooperating). We had so much fun exploring the city and vowed to go earlier in the season next year :)

Friday Five!

{Tulip Festival date in Holland}

Weather is weird. It was a beautiful weekend followed by a slow decline of temperatures throughout the week. All leading up to tomorrow. The Riverbank Run. Not looking forward to it at all… it will be in the 30’s while I’m running and I’m the kinda girl that doesn’t like running below 55 degrees and sunshine. So this should be interesting! Although, assuming I make it out of my warm bed (since I skipped last year due to a monsoon I would REALLY like to make it this year), at least I’ll have the nice beer tent to look forward to J

Utica Wedding Photo Diary

This past weekend we celebrated Max's buddy from college in a small town near Detroit, called Utica. The wedding was an eating, drinking and dancing fest from start to finish. It's no secret that I love weddings!

Here is our photo diary.
