If
I could go back and relive the entire weekend I would do nothing different. Max
and I had an amazing trip up north visiting breweries and celebrating first year
of marriage!
We
started off the weekend at Traverse City, visiting Jolly Pumpkin, Terra Firma, Right Brain and Rare Bird. Then we went back to our
hotel room, munched on cheese and crackers, drank champagne and relaxed before
heading down to the quite lively hotel bar for the Michigan State football
game. Sunday, we arose bright and early and were back at it, hitting up The Workshop (best bacon EVER!!) and The Filling Station in Traverse
before heading even further north to Shorts Brewing in Bellaire. Once we
checked into Shanty Creek Resort we were pretty beat and laid low the
rest of the evening, looking out at our awesome view of the northern Michigan colors
(even though pictures don’t do it justice!). Monday morning we ate at a local
diner (chocolate chip pancakes!!) and leisurely drove back to Grand Rapids.
The
trip was everything we intended: relaxed & fun. It was the kind of weekend where
nothing got to us. There was no bickering, it was just a fun husband & wife
road trip, enjoying each other’s company and reminiscing on our entire
relationship together. We relived some pretty funny stories from college and
talked about the things we remembered most about our wedding day. It was
perfect.
Shall
we visit Michigan’s east side breweries for our second anniversary?!? Maybe…
You
can read all about my thoughts on our first year of marriage here.
{excuse the fuzziness, but these nachos were too good not to share!}
{what a goof!}
{just gotta lay down for a second!}
{all rested!}
{until next year...}
