Cheers to Beer City USA

As mentioned on my Friday Five! last week, Max and I are continuing our brewery tour of Beer City USA. At the end of the summer I hope to have a Michigan Brewers post of all my favorite memories, hops, beer gardens etc. Michigan is most definitely on top when it comes to this recent trend. It started with Bell’s in Kalamazoo and has simply exploded since then! Grand Rapids was named top dog (yay!), Kalamazoo second and Ann Arbor came in at 4th (apparently Max and I also have to take a trip to Asheville, who took 3rd this year but has won, or co-won, more than 3 times in the past).

Anywho, this past weekend we couldn't make it to White Flame or Pike 51 (their hours tripped us up since this was a daytime thing), but we were able to knock off Harmony and Mitten Brewing. We LOVE Harmony. Quaint little place in East Town that is known for their food (in fact, SO known for their pizza we had to go back for dinner on Sunday). The day was such a blast! Especially since the the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts was going on downtown and there was free admission to the Art Museum. We’re having such an amazing time exploring this city.
