Around Bellewood – Beer Garden (& Wine Club #14!)

Two years after moving into our house and we’re finally FINALLY doing something about the back yard, or as I like to call it, our Beer Garden. This project has been a long time coming and it’s in no way done, but baby steps J Last weekend Max and I hung the beautiful string lights I’ve been daydreaming about since we moved in. Since I lost last month at Wine Club, I had to host this month. This gave us the perfect excuse to get our butt in gear and make the backyard space a little more homey, and closer to what we envision down the road.

We hung the string lights on Saturday, and just my luck, Monday we were hit with not one, but TWO torrential downpours, aggressive winds and the threat of tornadoes. GREAT!! Luckily, Max, being the handyman he is, reinforced the lights very well! Those suckers stayed put and after all was said and done, looked awesome for Wine Club (Sangria themed!) last week!! Max even had the great idea of staining the staircase for a little something extra! I could not believe how much it changed the space! I’m in love and I can’t wait to do more!!

Our efforts paid off and the backyard was a perfect place to host Wine Club. The weather was beautiful and the company even more so! Each and every sangria I tasted I gave the highest honor… a 5! What can I say, I really did love them all! Most were homemade recipes that I will have to try out sometime. I was not so creative and played it safe, but I’m thinking another sangria party is in my future!!

I love when you have exciting weekends approaching and the week goes by quick. It’s like the universe is doing you a little favor, not to prolong your anticipation. This weekend I’m going to Chicago. And when I’m in the city, all is right in the world.

P.S. Happy Birthday Momma!

52 Hand Lettered Project – June Recap

Sorry guys… got a little behind on posting this!

22/52
“happiness is” = Chicago
(perfect given my weekend plans)
Maybe it’s because all I can think about lately is getting out of town and into the city, but Chicago has been on my mind A TON the past month. I am planning a weekend down there this weekend and CAN NOT WAIT. The city has always been my happy place. My place of inspiration and joy.

23/52
“winter love list”
This pretty much speaks for itself…while I don’t want to think about winter time right now, this love list are always a source of happiness and things I look forward to ever holiday season

24/52
“the last amazing meal I ate”
Max is a great cook, and while this meal in no way showcases his talents, there just something about a fresh summer meal eaten al fresco.

25/52
“life lately” = summer lovin’
Summer is in full swing in the Mitten and I could not be more content.

26/52
“words to live by” = live free & love yourself

There is nothing better than truly living your life to the fullest. Be you. Live how you want to live. Be kind and be open. But more than anything love you. Love who you are and what you represent. Be free.

4th of July Weekend 2015 – Part 2

Saturday, July 4th 2015. A day that will go down as one of the best. A day at Gun Lake was just what the doctor ordered to keep this summer going. It’s been a little chilly around America’s High Five this summer, and now that we’re finally seeing summer like temps I’m taking advantage at every turn.

Sunday, the lake life continued and we traveled to Green Lake for a more relaxed version of boating. Yummy grilling and leisure floating on the water was on the agenda. And it was magical.

Friday Five!

______________________________________

Over the winter I typically fall into a week day rut, where I never have evening plans. When I go to work, it’s dark. When I leave work, it’s dark. So once the work day is over, I simply want to get home and cuddle under my heated blanket. Winter hibernation if you will. It’s so refreshing that daylight is lasting all the way until 10pm these days and the warm weather is simply pushing us out the door to enjoy nature, friends and the season. Early in the week, I was going through some of post holidays blues, and the plans I had I place multiple evenings made the work days this week seem less daunting. Something to look forward to. I’ll have to try and remember this come the colder months as it truly does make the week fly by.
