Friday Five!

{pretty cupcake design for 4th of July pool party}
___________________________________________

I had the fifth of July blues alllllll week. Last week was so much fun with Courtney and Hector in town, and with a long weekend to booth it was that much harder to get back to the grind on Tuesday. Alas, here we are… another Friday with another weekend on the horizon. YAY!

Tonight the women’s gymnastics Olympic trials are on! GO TEAM USA!! The rest of the weekend will be spent beating the summer heat. Whether that means, beach, staying in or embracing the patio is yet to be seen…

Cheers!

Friday Five!

{new office chair that matches the room décor to a T}
____________________________________________________

I’ve been totally MIA this week… I know... but I have good reason for it, PROMISE! 1) Rosie’s lil baby fur body was rejecting the sutures from her big girl surgery a couple of weeks ago, so we had to take her back to the vet so they could remove them, give her antibiotics for the infection and staple the wound. My poor girl is in solitary confinement until they are removed next week, 2) many of my main summer projects hit in full swing this week and I was gloriously swamped with fulfilling work, and 3) MY SISTER IS IN TOWNI! That’s right, my sis, hubs and the pups stayed with Max and I all week! So when I wasn’t working my time was dedicated to that J

See, told ya I had good reason!

This weekend it’s the 4th of July! Fireworks, putt putt (Max and I are playing for Sonic slushies!), Game of Thrones, and pool parties are all in my future and I can’t wait! I haven’t been to a pool party since I wore floaties so I'm pumped. I hope they have the fancy food floats that are all the rage this season!

Friday Five!

{new landscaping sneak peek}

Michigan has been blessed with the good weather bug! We’re in the midst of that time of year when we see the most sunshine we’ll see for the next 365 days. I am trying hard to take advantage of it and soak up each second, including magazines on the porch until 10 one evening and more and more al fresco eating.

This weekend I’m hosting a gymnast reunion in Grand Rapids! Snuggling a newborn, SUP yoga, champagne, a festival in Eastown and a night downtown are all on the agenda. Can’t wait to unwind with my girls!

Friday Five!

{Lee & Birch 2 year anniversary event... complete with food trucks, lemonade, live music and 20% off!}

My baby girl Rosie Lu has her surgery today. I dropped her off this morning and don’t think it’s going to be a very productive day… I know it’s a typical procedure and I have nothing to worry about, but I’m dreading the thought of her being in pain L

Luckily, it’s been another very productive WEEK! It’s been somewhat stressful, but knowing that I had a fun event to look forward to each night motivated me to make the best of my days. Yoga on Tuesday was incredible, and a couple events in Eastown reminded me how much I love Grand Rapids in the summer.

This weekend will be dedicated to nursing our fur baby back to health!

Friday Five!

{lunchtime yoga on the rooftop of 616 Lofts}
__________________________________________________________

For being the first 5 day work week I’ve had in what feels like months, it went by pretty quick and was fairly painless. I had events to look forward each day, and work that fulfilled me throughout the week. Certain projects are finally gaining traction and I’m feeling inspired by the confidence colleagues have in my ability to bring certain things to fruition. Overall an extremely rewarding week that I hope continues throughout the whole month (as my horoscope predicted…).

Cheers to another weekend spent celebrating birthdays and enjoying Michigan heat!

Friday Five!

{the landscaping planted last season has really popped this week!}

Every year Summer sneaks up on me... in the best possible way. All of a sudden you walk outside and BOOM it's warm. You string enough of those days together and you realize it's summer. It's a pretty damn good feeling! Note: This is has the opposite effect when you realize it's Winter...

Can I get a hallelujah for 4 day work weeks?! This week was short, but it packed a punch and I’m more than ready for another weekend! A relaxing weekend at that… I don’t have much planned, but I’m hoping soaking up some sun and binging on a new show is on my agenda!

Happy June friends!

Friday Five!

{all my memories from my sister weekend in New Orleans}
_________________________________________________________________

Coming off a high from a weekend in New Orleans with my sister, I knew this week would drag! Which it did… being busy aside all I could really think about all week was how much I wanted to take an extended vacation to enjoy hot Michigan weather. Well… I could not do that but at least it’s another LONG weekend J

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Tonight we’re having a get together at our house for my 30th, then the rest of the weekend we are playing it by ear. Lansing brewery tour? Beach? Relaxing around the house with Rosie Lu!? Whatever. I’m so excited for summer!

Friday Five!

{Tulip Festival date in Holland}
_________________________________________________________________________________________

Weather is weird. It was a beautiful weekend followed by a slow decline of temperatures throughout the week. All leading up to tomorrow. The Riverbank Run. Not looking forward to it at all… it will be in the 30’s while I’m running and I’m the kinda girl that doesn’t like running below 55 degrees and sunshine. So this should be interesting! Although, assuming I make it out of my warm bed (since I skipped last year due to a monsoon I would REALLY like to make it this year), at least I’ll have the nice beer tent to look forward to J

Friday Five!

{Max surprised with on my WFH day with early Mother's Day flowers from Rosie ;)}
_________________________________________________________________________

May flowers? Hell yeah!! This week frickin’ rocked my socks. We had some showers, sure, but it’s finally warming up again around here and I could not be more excited! I’m itching for summer and sunshine in a bad way…

Last week is kind of a blur. I didn’t get much work done being out traveling, so this week was all about catching up and getting ahead! It felt great to get back into my routine. I completely THRIVE on routine. That may sound boring, but honestly it’s when I feel I’m the best version of myself. All the while counting down the milliseconds until my next adventure in two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (36 exclamation points J)

Tonight I am excited for a relaxing girls night in with the new momma, a wedding on the East side of Michigan tomorrow, then a delicious Mother’s Day brunch celebrating the lady that gave me life on Sunday!

Cheers to May!!

Friday Five! New England Edition

{Boston!!}
_______________________
This week I successfully knocked off 2 more states from my travel bucket list. While my business trip was specifically for Providence, Rhode Island, I was able to get away to Boston for a night to explore some Fenway and some

I feel it’s going to be a long Friday of playing catch up but I would not take back a thing from this past week! New England is beautiful!! I wish so hard that I was staying the weekend to continue my explorations… I guess I’ll just have to make a point of planning a personal trip out to this amazing and historic part of the country. God Bless America (and god bless my lack of plans this weekend)!
